What is SMS balcony?
SMS Balcony is an innovative product developed by Experion Technologies and deployed in collaboration with the telecom service providers to simplify the movie reservation process for the public. It is a Global Theatre Inventory Distribution System (GTIDS) hosted by Experion in the Software as a Service (SAAS) model, linking the movie goers and theatres via the mobile service provider network through SMS. Apart from booking, it has functions similar to the internet search features of listing movies in a town, seat availability check etc via SMS! With the launch of this product, movie ticket reservation for the common man is just an SMS away.

Why SMS balcony?
At present, there are many advance reservation methods available in the market. Unfortunately none of them are truly convinient as they all lack simplicity and user friendliness. These reservation methods and their drawbacks are given below.

Over the counter booking - very inconvenient for the customer as one has to drive down well in advance all the way to the respective theatres to make a booking
Telephone booking – Does not work all the time, busy lines & also there is no obligation.
Agency based booking services – Very high cost for the movie goers as the per ticket costs can be upto 20 rupees over and above the ticket charges…! ( This is available only in a few places and for a few theatres)
Internet based booking – Poor accessibility for all as only 10% have net access.
IVR based booking – Poor usability and high cost for the customer
